BYOC - Bring Your Own Crazy!

Let’s do BYOC – Bring Your Own Crazy. We answer 5 questions in an effort to get to know each other better and to give our blog brains a break. Copy to your own blog and ENJOY!

1. Do you drink coffee? Decaf or regular? Cold or hot? If not – what’s your go-to morning drink?

Coffee. Regular. Hot. Black. And I have been limiting from a bathtub to a single cup. Surprisingly I have not shriveled up and died.

2. What are your top six characteristics in a partner if you could hand pick them. And just for kicks – if you’re in a relationship – after you make the list of six – does the person you are with possess all five?

Funny-Has to be funny
Honest / Trustworthy
Kind
Loyal

Romantic
Tall, Dark, Handsome, Country boy w/ City attitude, Athletic, Big Truck, Muscular arms (I have a weird thing with arms), and Nice tush (in tight jeans).

Well, I think I got a little carried away at the bottom.  Oopsie.  Ryan has all my characteristics that I listed above.  He's hilarious, and I swear we spend more time giggling like a bunch of 13 year old school girls than anything.

Only thing I wish he was a teensy bit more of is Romantic. I am a hopeless, HOPELESS, romantic. I love the flowers for no reason thing, I love the little notes put in your make up drawer that say I heart You thing, I love the spontaneous kisses thing, ALL OF IT!  He is romantic, in his own little way. And he's MUCH more now than he was at the beginning of our relationship.  He did have a dolphin bring me a turquoise necklace while on our honeymoon. *Sigh* And he stashed 6 roses all over the house and garage with little notes on them, like a treasure hunt. *Sigh* Those gestures are IT for me.....they just need to happen more frequently. (Hint Hint Hint, Honey.)

3. I’m going to pick a person – not knowing if this person even exists in your life – and you try to describe this person in 5 short words or sentences:

Paternal grandfather

Farmer-grew the best sweet corn ever
Kind
Tough
Loved my grandma to pieces
Great woodworker

4. What’s your signature item? Color? Piece of clothing or jewelry? Accessory? You know – that one thing people know you will ALWAYS have on?

Ummm, NUSSING.  Not that I wear NUSSING....but that I rarely wear jewelry, except my wedding ring, and I don't really wear my favorite color like everyday or anything.  I never 'always' wear the same thing. I know. I'm boring. Get over it.

5. Repeat question: Summarize your week in real life and in blog life.

Real life has been pretty good. I ate Clean all week with the exception of my FoodHell vacation on Wed. night.  I also haven't weighed myself in 9 days. No scale Sept. is starting off good. I also ran last night and looked like I slathered myself with Vaseline afterwards. I'm going dove hunting tonight with the hubby and puppy. And tomorrow I'm going with him to a ranch to hang tree stands. I'm chalking it up to a 'extra exercise does a body good' thang with all the walking we're going to be doing.

Blogland I was a little absent the first part of the week, but have made a comeback with 3 posts in 2 days. Yippee for you all.  Miss Mommykinz and I are doing Clean Eating (not together, but at the same time kind of thing) and had a bunch of good tips on her post yesterday. Miss SlimCat is on vacay. Boo. Robin's summer is over and I hope she will be ok. hehe. And where the heck are you Dawnya??? I missy missy your posts! And poor little Draz's Banana. I just want to hug the little dickin's out of her!

Anyway, there's much more going on, but for now I will try and get back to the ol' job.

I run! I run!

Yuppers, you guessed it. This girl found her running mojo tonight.  It was hiding in the closet, underneath my pile-o-shoes. Sneaky bastard.
And since I haven't graced y'all with a workout picture in like ages, I thought I'd better share.

For your viewing pleasure:

Wanna know what else I learned tonight?

A little extra belly flab action, or what I like to refer to as my beer belly (Classy is my middle name), helps, a lot, to keep your water belt from riding up during the whole jogging escapade thang.

I'm sure my husband is proud to have this chica as his beloved wifey. Solely because I post ridiculous pictures of myself all over the abyss of the web. Nice.

On another note: I drank my horse trough of water tonight....and then some.  I think I chugged like 144 ounces or some asinine number like that.  I peed like 487 times today. I could have filled up a pool. Eww, that was kinda gross. Clearly I'm tired and need to retire to my fluffy mattress.

Nighty night everyone!
Sweet dreams Sugarplums!

Ten Things Thursday

Hello my lovelies!!!!

1.  Sooooo, I completely forgot my Ten Things Thursday last week.  Typical me. But it's back this week!!! Get PUMPED.

2.  I ate Italian Nachos and a slice of deep dish last night. And I drank 4 beers. Damn you stupid chain pizza restaurant!!! **Warning: Early morning food porn coming up.**
You're so right.  I should not have eaten any of that shitnanigans. I woke up this morning with a horrible belly ache and was not hungry at all.  And that's just wrong for me not to want eat a lumberjacks breakfast every morning.
Lesson. Learned. Again.

3.  Other than my little vacation to FoodHell last night, I've been doing incredibly well on the Eat Clean thang. I finally finished the book and decided to jump start this healthified nutrition consumption even further: I'm starting with the Cooler #1 diet for the next 1.5 weeks.  It says to do it for 2 weeks, but I'm going to a KSU football game next week, and we all know that KSU football + tailgating = beer consumption in my little Crazytown. Basically the Cooler #1 diet is, in one day: I have to eat 5 servings of protein, 4 huge servings of high glycemic index veggies, 1 serving of oatmeal/brown rice/quinoa (mommykinz: haven't tried it yet, but thinking about it, btw, send me your email so I can reply back to your comments, if you want), and 1 apple or pear. I love me some apples.  I also need to drink a gallon of water. A GALLON! That's 128 ounces! I'll be freaking peeing every 10 minutes. Maybe I should invest in Depends. Ok, that's just ridiculous. Moving on. I also need to eat all that foodstuffs in 5 small meals a day. No dairy, bread, alcohol (I die, I die), and something else, but I forget (seems to be a theme with me).

Pretty strict.  However! I think I can do it, I took the diet for a test run yesterday (pre-FoodHell) and I really felt good about it. It wasn't that hard. Really. REALLY!

4.  Ok, since I know y'all are sitting on the edge of your computer chair just dying to know (right), here's what my plan is today:
Breakfast: 1/2 c oatmeal w/ 2 T each Flaxseed and Wheatgerm (book recommended the added stuff, helps with the poopin'. Ronnie....maybe you should try this???). And 1 poached egg.
9:30am snack: 1/2 apple and 3oz sliced turkey.
Lunch: 2 cupped handfuls of romaine lettuce, chopped green pepper, red pepper, and tomatoes w/ 4oz of roasted chicken and topped w/ homemade salsa, and other 1/2 apple.
2:30am: 1 handful chopped cucumbers in water/vinegar, 4oz of chicken over 1/2 c brown rice with a teensy splash of low sodium soy sauce (sauce is not recommended but I just have to have something on my rice and chicken).
Dinner: 6oz of sauteed shrimp in chili paste and low sodium soy sauce w/ zucchini, squash, onion, asparagus, snow peas, and green pepper.

See, not that hard.  Then once this is over I add in more fruit and more sauces and bread and dairy, thank the Lawd.

5.  I booked my work-trip to New Orleans yesterday!!!! Look out Tessie--Comin' to your part of the world in Oct.!!  I'm so excited I could fart glitter.
I'm staying at the Astor Crown Plaza.
It's in the French Quarter (on the edge), and has a bar.  That's all I need really.  Oh, and it's within walking distance to Cafe Du Monde which whips up some mighty fine chicory (coffee) and these:
Yes. Yes you are.

I'll be attending a Print Conference, and as totally funtown as that sounds, I'm actually really excited about it.  I'll be there for 2 nights, and 3 days.  Ohhhhhh I. CAN. NOT. WAIT. I. LOVE. NEW. ORLEANS!

6.  I'm only drinking one cup of coffee a day.  Surprisingly, I haven't morphed into a raging bitch yet.  I can live without a bucket of caffeine. It's a miracle.

7.  I have not run since last Saturday.  Overtime is a pimple on the butt of a hippo.  I need to run tonight. And tomorrow. And the next day.  And 4-5 days a week for the rest of my natural LIFE!  I have a 5K coming up in 3 weeks. 3 WEEKS! That's like a sparrow's fart away (Thank you Amy for that glorious term.) Laura------>get your pooper outside and train!! Now.

8.  Which brings me to a thought I've been pondering for a few days now: It's all about the mindset, isn't it?  Y'all post about yourbadassselves with your rockin' workouts (Uhhemmm, Beth Ann, Robin, and so many more). Why can't I get myself to move my blubber???  It's because my brain is being a loafing heffer. I don't wanna, and it's too late, and I don't have time, and I hate life, and I can't find my water belt and water bottle and tennis shoes and now I can't bend over to tie my shoe because I don't want to turn my head away from the Hot Messes on Real Housewives, and I don't wanna.  Multiply moronic excuses.  I wanted to eat clean, set my mind to it, and have done good.  So why can't I make myself to actually get out and run??!! Something that I, God only knows why, love to do??!!  If any of you have answers on how to make my hefferbrain turn into a stellar athletic go get em' brain, please do tell.

9. The highest temp we have for the next 7 days is 89.  Yup. And that's next Tuesday. Since the weatherman gets it right about 2.367% of the time, I'm pretty sure it will want to be like all other days and be 80.  I have officially done died and gone to weather Heaven.  BTW, how can a person have a job and be wrong about it 97.633% of the time, and still keep their job??? Inquiring minds would like to know.

10.  Me no likey likey this:
What is it with me and Ryan's??

Enjoy your day my Sweetcheeks!!!

Summer is over....booooo....

Well, as most of you know, last weekend I spent at the Lake.  Because that's what we do on the 3 major holidays, every summer, is go down to Table Rock and hang on the dock, drink beers, have fun with friends and family, fish, play with the puppy, and just relax.  Great. Times.

And I would like y'all to know that I did 95% AMAZE.balls on my Clean Eating diet last weekend! Awww Sooky Sooky! The 5% 'bad' was beers Friday night thru Monday night.  But Saturday I only had 6! That's good right?!  I also had a few potato chips, some pasta salad, and 1 chocolate chip cookie.  All in all, that's pretty damn good for a holiday weekend full of coconut cream cake, 12 super delicious super fatty super huge muffin's from Costco, tortilla chips and salsa, and a bunch of other foodcraps taunting me.

Wyatt found a new 'spot':

I wonder what goes through his noggin' to want to cram his caboose in the tiniest part of the boat.  Dogs.

I also got up on Saturday morning and ran the mountainous Missouri roads for 3 long miles.  It was a beautiful, but slightly humid (and by slightly I mean it was like running thru nacho cheese soup) morning; there was not a soul driving the Barbie-sized roads, which was excellent for me because I didn't get clipped by any side mirrors or trailer wheels.  Oh, Dear Missouri: make your freaking roads wider than a sidewalk. Please! For the love of Pete!!!
My Wildcats also played last weekend.  That would be the Kansas State University (BadAzzz) Wildcats, just in case you were wondering.  And even though I write the (BadAzzz) above, their 'playing' on Saturday was anything but.  I could have put on a helmet and pads and had a broken femur and moved the pigskin farther than those wussies.  Jeesh!  Short story: We suck. No score until the 4th quarter, then it was Eastern Kentucky (WHO??!!) that made the first points.  But a few minutes later we made a TD to win.  Talk about the skin of our pathetic teeth! It's going to be a long beer infused season.

Wanna know what else happened, that was so fantabulous, so awesome, so unbelievable?  The 'high' on Sunday was 75 degrees!!!!  The freaking low was 50!!!!  THANK YOU TO ALL THAT IS HOLY FOR FALL WEATHER!!! I love you long time.
Well, hello there FIL Cliff! And Uncle Trey (in his white boat). Y'all are famous now. You're welcome.
The brown one is ours....or more like Ryan's parents.  It is a 1983 Success and it is STILL running like a champ, thanks to Cliff's expert mechanics skills.  (PS...Cliff: Can you stop working your magic on the 1983 boat so we can get a 2010 boat? Please? Let's just let it die with dignity, mmmkay?)

And that red square I have highlighted in the photo.....it's this:
Nothing like reading your Clean Eating Diet book and chugging beers out of a boot koozie to say 'health expert'. Priceless. BTW, thanks y'all for pointing out that my spelling ability of 'koozie' (or 'coozie' as I wrote it here) is about as awesome as a kindergartner's. I've never claimed to know where spell check is. You'll just have to deal with my made up words.

And this is how I spent Sunday night:
Note beer and book....again.

The End. To Summer.
I will miss you, but not your 100+ degree days.

BYOC - Bring Your Own Crazy!

BYOC – Bring Your Own Crazy….5 little questions we ask to get to know each other better and to give our blogging brains a break. Copy and paste to your own blog and enjoy!

1. If you have a camera and have the time – take the contents of your purse out – and take a picture of said contents and explain them. If you don’t have time or a camera – please describe the contents of your purse.

Well, let's see here.....I've got a lot of little crap.
-Business card to poopy pants Ron, new sunglasses, phone, cords that go to my camera and MP3, camera battery charger, oh and camera (that I'm using to take this pic), other business card holders (black things), matches, fishing license, pens, keys to my Mom's, eye drops, head ache meds, tissues, paper, little baby makeup mirror, hand sanitizer, wallet and business checkbook, lighter, change, Ryan's candy, keys, head lamp to go on ball caps for running (red and black thing), mints, chapstick, 2 jump drives, and some bobby pins.

Everything that a girl needs.

2. Repeat question: I’m going to pick a person not knowing if you have a relationship with this person or if the person even exists and you try to describe the person in 5 words or short sentences.

• Your kindergarten teacher

Barely
Remember.
Soft voice
Let us take naps
Brown hair

3. What’s your favorite guilty pleasure / trashy TV show you like to watch?

Can I get a woop woop for Housewives of Numerous Large Metropolises please (Bev. Hills is still my fav)!!! God I love those plastic drama-seeking beeaatches!  I also have been watching Top Gear on the History channel....3 hilarious dudes having a competition every week to see which souped-up Ford, Dodge, and Chevy truck wins ridiculous obstacle courses. I'm such a tom-boy. I also LOVE Greys and Private Practice and am going to miss Brothers & Sisters.

4. A lot of you told me about your first day of school experiences when I posted about how my 5 year old going to kindergarten wasn’t causing me too much heartache. So now I’m officially asking – tell me about one of your first day of school experiences that sticks out in your mind the most. Who put you on the bus? Did you ride the bus? Did your parents take pics? Did they walk you into school? Drive you there? Cook you breakfast?

Ok, I wrote this on Draz's comment section the other day, but what I remember about my 'first day' was NUSSING like what is the hoopla now.  My mom was a teacher, and got to school at like 5am because, well, she loved educating teenage minds (more like she just had shitloads of papers to grade) and my dad also went to work super early doing whatever it is he did. So that left my brother and I in the gentle care of our babysitter Diane.  When it was time to go to Kindergarten, my best buddy, who lived across the street from us and also went to Diane's, and I were to go together.  Frannie's mom walked us through 'the route' on Sunday afternoon, told us to hold hands and look both ways. Come Monday morning we trotted off, by ourselves, 6 blocks to school.  There were no pictures, no rituals, no hugs or parents standing at the bottom steps waving us on through the big school doors. No NUSSING.  And I turned out just fine.

And don't get me wrong, I think it's soooo wonderful that parents have rituals on their first days, I'm looking forward to the wonderful rituals I'll get to start with my future children.  But I agree with others, there's no way I'm freaking taking off work.  It's just another day.....just another moment....as long as I capture it on film, I'm good.

5. Repeat question: Summarize your week in real life and in blog land.

Real life has, again, been just as stinky as a Mexican food induced Satan fart. Recap: working overtime makes me the happiest person on the planet and I wake up every morning thanking the Lord that I get to have a psycho-filled stresscrazed day at my glorious place of employment. Sarcasm much? At home, I had a knock-down drag-out cat fight with my new dishwasher, I tried to claw it's eyes out, but it won. Ho-bag. Only good part is that I almost made a grown (sales)man cry like a girl.

And so I'm not a complete party pooper: I've stuck to my Clean Eating lifestyle change for 5 full days!!!  No beers, no donuts, no popcorn, no anything-that-has-mouthwatering-sugar-and-makes-me-have-a-chocolate-induced-orgasm. Last night I had grilled cajun chicken with lettuce, tomato, green peppers, avocado, mozzarella, and light mayo on a whole wheat pita......A.MAZ.ING!  And at a suggestion to Mommykinz I am totally trying some new Chobani yogurt. Yum.

One more thing! Look at the rockin' new beer coozies my Mom and Hardy (her bf) gave to me.....
No Draz that is not my Harley seat. I have not crossed over to the other side yet.
They're little cah-boy (cowboy in Kansan talk) boots!!! Aren't they the cutest little fun things ever!! I mean, who loves beer and shoes more than me??? (Well, except I know Draz is way more obsessed with Mt. Dew and shoes, than I am.)

Blog land:  Ummm, did y'all know yesterday was Thursday??!! Did you all wonder where my 10 Things Thursday was??? Were you all so confused you didn't know whether to scratch your watch or wind your butt?  No? That's what I thought. Thank you to my wonderful Cat for reminding me....at 9pm last night....that I forgot, by posting her 10 Things.  Or I just had another ditzy episode that lasted a full 12 hours.  Either way, I'm sorry Pumkins!! Next week it's on like donkey kong!

Well, I'm off to the wonderland called Table Rock. It's nice there. No worky-worky. But has water, boats, screened in porches to read all day on, beers, and best friends and great family. Bliss.

Booze and Shoes

SOOOOOooooooo....

After work, I went to get booze for this holiday weekend.......

And came home with this......

All for 33 buckaroos.

Bad. Ass.
Thank you to whoever put a shoe store next to the liquor store. You are my new best friend.

(**Side note: Totally didn't realize that it was 10 Thing Thursday till about 2 minutes ago.  Typical.)

And the Clean Eating continues + dishwasher drama...

Day 4 of eating 'clean' is coming right along little ladies.   It's not as hard as I thought.  It's actually pretty easy.
Here's a typical day:
Breakfast: Oatmeal w/ organic light agave nectar, flaxseed, wheat germ and a touch of cinnamon, 1-2 whole poached eggs and organic light vanilla soy milk (not bad, btw)
Mid morning snack: Yogurt w/ almonds
Lunch: Left over chicken stir-fry w/ brown rice and veggies and a sugar free chocolate pudding snack (which I don't think is technically on the 'clean eating food list' but I need one little treat and that's as good as they come.)
Afternoon snack: Banana w/ almonds and salad w/ cucumber and tomatoes
Dinner: Turkey on Whole Grain pita w/ avocado and a salad.

Everything I eat, according to the diet, should be whole grain, organic (if you can afford it), no sugar or white carbs and as unprocessed as you can get.  I'm pushing the limits on the yogurt, because it's just fat free regular crap, with (as I just noticed) 15g of sugar in it, but I have like 76 in the fridge that I have to eat. No way Jose do I throw out good food people.  I also need to eat 5-6 meals a day and make sure that at each one I'm getting good protein and complex carbs.

It is also recommended that I drink at least 2-3 liters of water a day.  I've got a 24oz water bottle, so I need to be drinking 3-4 of those.  I did great on this yesterday, and today I already finished one before lunch which is unheard of.

I did stepped on the flatchested whore this morning and it read I had a 2.5 loss since Monday.  That means I'm at 152 point something.  Good deal, means this no sugar no beer BS is working (which sucks donkey balls at the same time). It is also recommended by the little diet book that I try to avoid the scale and concentrate on my NSVs (non-scale victories), how my clothes fit, and how my exercise is going.  I'm going to try.....but I'm sure I'll need that little number in order to be satisfied.  But my goal is not to weigh myself again for two weeks. Or maybe three.  Hell, I should just go for a full month because I have that 5K in four weeks and it's the 1st of the month.  Ok, no weighing for a month.  If Beth Ann and Shannon can do it, then so can I!!

Now......
Hold on to your butts for this: I resisted the buttery popcorn and, AND double chocolate cake with fudge icing with a glaze donut on the side today!!! Aren't you just so damn proud of me?!?!

I'm proud of me. (Apparently this bloggy is turning into posts about what foods I can resist. Scintillating.)

And as for last night, you know.....the whole pizza/beer/gossip with two of my favorite boy cousins thang??? Well, I didn't end up going.  I'm taking it as a sign from the Diet Goddesses when the appliance store called Tuesday evening to let us know our dishwasher was in, and that we had to install it Wed. night; it was just meant to be that I not be subjected to those horrible temptations. Winner winner chicken dinner.

And let me just tell you how our 'installation' went:

-Ryan takes old pieceofshitgoodfornothing dishwasher out, drains the hoses, and tosses it outside on the deck.
-I get home and we go pick up our brand spankin' new pretty pearly white dishwasher from the appliance store. (At this time, I just want to make note, that I asked Ryan if he HAD EVERYTHING he needed to install the DW [dishwasher]. He replied, "Yes, Dear.")
-Ryan says on the ride home, "You know, it was waaayyyyy too easy getting that old junker out. I just know that something's going to go wrong with the new one when we install it."
-Me, "DON'T SAY THINGS LIKE THAT!!!!! Mr. Negative Nancy!!! Christ."
-We get home and start unwrapping/unboxing/unbolting/untaping the new DW.  Funny, we notice that there is broken plastic pieces at the bottom of the box.  Mmmmmm.  But we couldn't find where they went to.
-Ryan starts installing the hoses.
-Ryan says, "Crap."
-Apparently we DON'T have every thing we need to do the installation. We need a O-ring clamp thingy to put on the hose that hooks to the disposal. (But in his defense the new DW hose is a different size from the old DW. So we were probably going to have to go get a new one no matter what.)
-I drive the big beefy Dodge to the little farmer's store that has everything from bagged cow poop to homemade saltwater taffy and pick up the thingy we need.
-On the way out I get a call, it's Ryan, who says, "Well, I found where the broken plastic went....yup, it's a pretty important part that is all busted up." Awesome.
-I get home and let's just say Ryan is not a happy camper. He pops the top on a nice frosty Mr. Bud Light.  My mouth starts salivating.  I mean, the slobber is flowing from my open pie hole like Niagara Falls. But I resisted. (Who AM I????)
-Ryan calls the appliance place and the best they can do is have US call a repair man, who's closed, and leave a message for him to call us tomorrow, or today, I mean.  The little itty bitty problem with that......The hot water is turned off because the water line to the DW is sitting exposed because we CAN'T HOOK UP THE NEW DISHWASHER!!!
-So we have to re-hook up the old DW.  At this point I am able to shoot flames from my eyeballs and I am aiming them at the appliance store.

To shorten this little escapade up: We hooked up the old one, but not so where I can use it. Can I just tell you that I'd rather stick my hand in a bucket of 2 year old walrus crap than do dishes by hand.

I wait until this morning and I politely, but very firmly,  tell our salesman that his store is GOING to pick up the broken new DW today after 5pm, they WILL order us a new DW, they WILL deliver it and install it next week, all for FREE of charge.  Now, the only thing I can say about my 'polite but firm' voice is that half the male managers that I work with, who have been given the privilege of hearing my little 'polite but firm' voice, think I am the biggest raging psycho B*tch to walk the face of the Earth and they pray every night for my poor husband. Needless to say, I'm pretty sure poor Ron from the appliance store needed to check his pants after our little chat.

Good times.

Oh, and still waiting to see if we will actually GET our new bedroom furniture. So far, they can't 'find' all the pieces in the entire United States, and I am NOT paying for a set that is short a chest of drawers that I'll have to wait 7 years for some 96 year old chinese man to widdle out of wood. Nope, not gonna happen.

Hopefully next week we will have a our newly installed working perfect dishwasher and a pretty new bedroom set to go with our phenomenal mattress.

And, good God, I will actually find the time to start training for the previously mentioned 5K.
